Mika is a NYS licensed massage therapist and an
ERYT-500 hour registered yoga teacher. She is certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and Yoga Alliance (YA), and she is certified in prenatal for both yoga and massage. Mika adheres to the philosophy that wellness is generated from the mind and body experience. She is a firm believer that building a bridge between the two is the most direct pathway to overall well-being.
As a massage therapist, Mika applies both western and eastern techniques that support the individual needs of her clients. Each massage is informed by her intuitive hands on approach, her continuous study of the human body and a personalized treatment plan that considers the physical and emotional components to pain.
Deeply committed to her craft as a yoga practitioner, her goal is to help students build a strong and steady physical and mental foundation, while challenging them to contend with their inner selves. She knows herself that this is where the real hurdles can lie. Mika is inspired by the precision of alignment, intelligent vinyasa flow sequencing and the essence of classical Hatha yoga. She incorporates elements of her own practice into her classes, while adding an eclectic range of music, breath awareness, anatomical alignment and core integration.
While on this transformational quest, Mika has learned a great deal about herself and feels blessed to be a continuous student on this journey. She is eternally grateful for her teachers; Schuyler Grant, Raghunath Cappo, Sri Dharma Mittra and her very first teacher, her Mama. She is beyond humbled to have the opportunity to spread the knowledge and love of yoga to others.
Mika resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband Ryan and son Jonah.
